The Sussex and Kent Weald Stationary Engine Group are delighted to welcome a vast range of stationary engines to Highclere again this year.
Alan and Lynn Cullen have been organising the vintage section for many years, and have built up an impressive showcase of stationary engines.
The Highclere Show provides a comprehensive display for those with an interest in how technology has advanced throughout history, and how it has changed our countryside.
Stationary engines powered the milking machines and generated electricity to brighten those cold winter nights. Multipurpose estate engines would toil in the fields, and then power the threshing machines in the barn to process the grain.
Visitors are encouraged to ask questions as most of the machines have been lovingly restored by their owners themselves, and every one has it’s own story to tell.
